Been deep into fall cleaning, reviewed, retired, put together a flash fall sale on a few things...and a fresh start is underway. Pulled out and finally finished some old work from (wait for it...) 1991! But I always work in cycles and often revisit older work to turn it into new. Completed a couple of pendants and a couple of earrings looking forward to the upcoming Santa Fe Recycle Show in November, and had fun shooting some pictures with my new phone. Nothing is live online yet, but planning to launch in a few weeks.
Below a couple of the very first finished pieces, black and white newspaper cuttings on cardboard core. Stained Brooches: initial series from decades ago, stains and marks on silver, brass and copper. some of these sold at jeweler's werk galerie/dc, but I can't remember when. Stained Brooches: all these pieces were very limited production, made just 4 of these, similar but all different, signed and dated on the back. This is a flat donut shape in stained silver. I know the w(h)earabouts of 2 of them, and I traded 1 for a beautiful dark red coat full of cut-out circles once with a fellow exhibitor at an American Craft Council Show in Baltimore. One of the recent experiments, the Black+White Graffiti Jewelry line, is one-of-a-kind collection of 8 unique pieces, earrings and a couple of pendants. Now my hands are itching.
I am playing around with initial tests on paper for a new series... I cannot wait to put it all down on metal! I had to start my day right this morning and wanted to post this shot of me wearing some of my latest new work: Big Hearts Earrings in black silver and a long black Simple Heart Pendant to match. It's already hot early in the morning, so I am showing them off on a faded green top that has seen deeper colors...but you get the picture.
Check all the different sizes and colors available in the free forms jewelry collection and let me keep you posted on new work, join my collector circle to be the first to know! This necklace went home last week, just around the corner.. This necklace keeps talking, in a constant dialog with itself. above, some notes and thoughts, at the time.
now someone else will be listening... enjoy! Short and sweet...how about some cool jewelry to keep things fresh, despite the heat? Adornment in eye-catching hues...the black and white graffiti collection.
Spirit 2 found its home, at last, early this month. In fact, it all started and ended on a Wednesday, June 1, when this one-of-a-kind necklace was picked up from its display case, almost in a sweeping gesture, by an unassuming customer on a showroom visit. Spirit 2 - Necklace It all happened so quickly, I did not have time to fully grasp the sudden departure of a beloved piece, the second of a series of 3 unique necklaces, all with the spirit of late summer colors in mind. Back from the earliest playful experiments and through the years, evolution and simple variations on a theme, always and forever late summer colors mood. And now there is number 3, medley of copper and silver elements with heat hues and splashes of black patina to play with along a bead silver chain in colorful arrangements. Spirit 3 Necklace So here we go, this is me in the studio, playing model with my Swinging Coil Earrings! No frills. But those earrings are so light and fun to wear and I just keep them on these days, as I churn a few more and snap shots...
This IS a rare peek into my studio and surroundings, and I am sharing it here today, sooo... It's time for Spring! It's all I can think about these days, in between melting snow flakes and pale rays of sunshine, the blue skies just autside the door. I replenished my inventory, I got all my Twists and Turns lined up and ready to spring forward with color! I also introduced the Bangle Sets to make life easier for everybody, so you can stack them up and have them all! Speaking of sets, here is one with the Stick Pendants in various combinations.
They are ready to go on an adjustable black cotton cord with matching sliders for any length preference. Spring cleaning is in the air, regardless of the weather showing otherwise and the world longing for peace... I reworked these earrings below, made them even more irresistible than before, and so so light to wear! Of course, big is key, and all the colors they come in. But most importantly, they swing! Not much into hearts, but have made a few in the years past. Looking into my slide folders (remember those?), I just re-discovered a full selection of them, earrings and pins and pendant and necklaces...Played around a bit with a cheap slide scanning app on my phone and here's a couple of shots, all sold long ago. And then there is this one, possibly the most precious of them all. Sister to the copper one above and the only one left from my hearts experiments, this is a stunning necklace with strong impact. It has a heart pierced in sterling silver, it has that bite in warm yellow 18k gold to accentuate the piece with memory, and it all hangs from a sterling silver snake chain, with a sterling silver toggle&bar clasp for no-fuss wearing.
