I can't even remember how long the twisted+wires jewelry collection has been around...let's say, a couple of decades? It started as joyful playtime with copper, brass and silver wires long ago, and it kept going strong, all these years. After all the recent swirling changes and curved balls of life hitting the ground, I made a very resisted decision to retire this jewelry line from retail sales. It is, after all, time to let it rest.  All I can now say is: don't miss it! (grin) So here we go, this is me in the studio, playing model with my Swinging Coil Earrings! No frills. But those earrings are so light and fun to wear and I just keep them on these days, as I churn a few more and snap shots...
This IS a rare peek into my studio and surroundings, and I am sharing it here today, sooo... It's time for Spring! It's all I can think about these days, in between melting snow flakes and pale rays of sunshine, the blue skies just autside the door. I replenished my inventory, I got all my Twists and Turns lined up and ready to spring forward with color! I also introduced the Bangle Sets to make life easier for everybody, so you can stack them up and have them all! Went up the mountains the other day for a walk, hiking over ridges and under huge sunburned rocks, wind twirling through cottonwood falling leaves, stark simplicity and in tune with the turquoise sky. Nothing fancy, just experiments in simple designs to add to my twisted and wires collection, but I did lose myself in all the possibilities, making rings has always been one of my favorite pieces to make. And then lost myself even further when I got a picture of this ring below, and and couldn't resist a little dip into memory lane... As far as the new experiments in simple ring-making, stay tuned! As I was talking to someone the other day, the phrase 'the future is uncertain, and the end is always near' - Jim Morrison's words, came to mind. But it always, and in almost any circumstance, brings back the attention to what in life that stays, what goes.  Nothing deep in an everyday object like a simple bangle, and yet...it could be another one of those keepers.
one of the many good things that have come to life during and despite this troubled year, is a local artists collective that sprang into action in response to the covid19 pandemic, offering a supportive net for fellow artists and makers. had been following them on instagram @artico.20 since the start but did not readily envisioned being one day featured on their feed!  so I'll be up there for the full week of december 6 through 12, go check it out and enjoy the ride, each day is a new post and a new image... |
