Stained Brooches: initial series from decades ago, stains and marks on silver, brass and copper. some of these sold at jeweler's werk galerie/dc, but I can't remember when. Stained Brooches: all these pieces were very limited production, made just 4 of these, similar but all different, signed and dated on the back. This is a flat donut shape in stained silver. I know the w(h)earabouts of 2 of them, and I traded 1 for a beautiful dark red coat full of cut-out circles once with a fellow exhibitor at an American Craft Council Show in Baltimore. One of the recent experiments, the Black+White Graffiti Jewelry line, is one-of-a-kind collection of 8 unique pieces, earrings and a couple of pendants. Now my hands are itching.
I am playing around with initial tests on paper for a new series... I cannot wait to put it all down on metal! I am fully exploring the look and feel of this new Hearts. Simple in shape, bright in contemporary colors, big and small, with medium in between and a couple of more style options....I am telling you, you can find your Hearts in this collection! It's golden summer colors for these hot summer nights and days, and here is something to take along with you.
Despite the heat, these Hearts are very cool (and very light) to wear! I had to start my day right this morning and wanted to post this shot of me wearing some of my latest new work: Big Hearts Earrings in black silver and a long black Simple Heart Pendant to match. It's already hot early in the morning, so I am showing them off on a faded green top that has seen deeper colors...but you get the picture.
Check all the different sizes and colors available in the free forms jewelry collection and let me keep you posted on new work, join my collector circle to be the first to know! I can't even remember how long the twisted+wires jewelry collection has been around...let's say, a couple of decades? It started as joyful playtime with copper, brass and silver wires long ago, and it kept going strong, all these years. After all the recent swirling changes and curved balls of life hitting the ground, I made a very resisted decision to retire this jewelry line from retail sales. It is, after all, time to let it rest. All I can now say is: don't miss it! (grin) I think of Hearts....seriously. How else could you respond to all the rough times life, the world of people, politics, the personal, the political? I am quick at shape associations, a word for a gesture, a feeling or just simply a tool, to aid on the path, of everything, to everything. And then I think of 'walking sticks', everyday tools that help the going along the way, like these simple little pleasures...in vibrant colors for every mood.
So here we go, this is me in the studio, playing model with my Swinging Coil Earrings! No frills. But those earrings are so light and fun to wear and I just keep them on these days, as I churn a few more and snap shots...
This IS a rare peek into my studio and surroundings, and I am sharing it here today, sooo... It's time for Spring! It's all I can think about these days, in between melting snow flakes and pale rays of sunshine, the blue skies just autside the door. I replenished my inventory, I got all my Twists and Turns lined up and ready to spring forward with color! I also introduced the Bangle Sets to make life easier for everybody, so you can stack them up and have them all! Speaking of sets, here is one with the Stick Pendants in various combinations.
They are ready to go on an adjustable black cotton cord with matching sliders for any length preference. Spring cleaning is in the air, regardless of the weather showing otherwise and the world longing for peace... I reworked these earrings below, made them even more irresistible than before, and so so light to wear! Of course, big is key, and all the colors they come in. But most importantly, they swing! Having real fun with these new Black and White jewelry line and am adding a few more pieces for the official launch mid June on my online store. Everything is one of a kind work, unique earrings and pendants, scribblings on silver, each piece signed and numbered.
My collectors list gets live launch link and an 'advantage' of 1 hour for shopping this statement Black and White Graffiti jewelry collection first over the general public...jump on board below to get yours! This work was pre-launched and tested with just a handful of pieces for a virtual platform in May and it sold fast... Another month almost gone, so much on the bench, having a hard time splitting myself between the (ohh, too many!) things in progress in trays, scattered all over the studio. But this is an ongoing-mode, as I seem not to be able to avoid it...wanting to do it all, yesterday. Today some quick notes on my studio treasure hunts of old work, have been re-shooting each single piece and adding some 'contest' and settings as visual connections... One of the WATER pin set, hand scribblings on silver, pinned to my black woolen sweater and a book that connects the two. I have recurring themes, sudden yearnings of making things done before, visual references and source of inspiration for the new. Pre-launched five pieces for the Black+White Artico show ending this month with great response, above a quick shot of the Black and White Graffiti Earrings 5 - one of the pieces still available at the show, as of today.
Got very excited about this new work, so have added another tray to my pile...got some new chain for some new pendants for the graffiti series...will see how fast I can clone myself. |
