one of the many good things that have come to life during and despite this troubled year, is a local artists collective that sprang into action in response to the covid19 pandemic, offering a supportive net for fellow artists and makers. had been following them on instagram @artico.20 since the start but did not readily envisioned being one day featured on their feed! so I'll be up there for the full week of december 6 through 12, go check it out and enjoy the ride, each day is a new post and a new image...
it's here! the jewelry closeout sale is just about a week away and here's another quick preview of what you'll find there: dangling coil earrings these are the very last 2 pairs of the dangling coil earrings i am left with, one in the copper finish (that witty orange) and one in the brass finish (the lemon yellow) and both are great for late fall and to add some swirls to your season. i am retiring this style from the popular twisted and wires collection, as i add new designs and keep growing this line.

as a subscriber of my collector list, you get to shop the sale two hours ahead of everyone else and you don't want to miss this, things sell out fast! so, sign up and check your email these next couple of weeks when you'll get your exclusive link to the sale!.... the Riding the crazy waves of current times, keeping busy in the studio, playing to keep busy, to keep the thoughts of 'what next?' at bay. These are the Play Rings, the two left of a series of three of one of a kind work of some while ago. The middle one in the picture below - Play Ring with Ball, lives in somewhere in arizona now. The other two are hanging in there, telling each other stories in the tray of the work-to-refreshed. after so much travel, these rings are currently in their refreshing mode...but stay tuned, will post here again when they are back for grabs!
and so it is: cone+bar necklace not alone anymore! it got picked. by someone special. someone who really connected with it. it takes the time it takes, but they all find each other: the one who wears it, the one being worn... a last shot, a long look at it, before letting it go... and off we go... cone+bar necklace is off to philadelphia!
along the way this march picked up some 'old' work sitting around on the bench, put these together, little sterling silver cubes. they are tiny, super light despite their 'cubeness' and they definitely stand out!
some one of a kind mini work ready for a customer, who grabbed them on the go... sometimes we are prepared, sometimes we are not... so it's time to pin something down this fall, time to not let it all blow away... time to do it in a bold way, time to do it in daring contemporary style, time to do it in vivid colors. so, advice for everyone to be ready for the gusts of fall, the scarf that blows over your shoulders, the pin on a lapel you have handy, to keep it all in place. just playing with jewelry and combinations of color to be in tune with this month, had fun playing with putting colors together, a black+orange line-up came out of it and is the main theme for the rest of the month. all i can see is black+orange and nothing else seems to stick to mind...
in the beginningit all began by accident. and fun. and by having fun with accidents happening... some while ago, quite a long while ago actually, and in full exploration mode i spent hours with a bandsaw and a bunch of copper, brass, silver pipes and tubes of all sizes and ...cut away! 'slices' of various sizes began piling up on my bench, some immediately finding their composition and combinations in the interimthen last year i found a box tucked away in my studio and almost forgotten, and pulled out six 2" x 2" thin square slices in brass, almost as out of thin air.... and these came out: the square slices! the big squaresstill in playing mode, i quickly put together six pairs of big thin square brass slice earrings, with a simple sterling silver ear wire and put them out to the world, without much thinking (did i mention that i was just playing?) and to my surprise, or maybe i was just caught off guard, these babies just flew off my earrings rack almost in no time and i found myself wondering... should i make some more? people really liked them, why not? but the experimental original 'slices' were gone and i had to start from scratch, slice them afresh from a pipe i could not find in my stash and with a band saw i no longer had... in the interim 2 (or, re-thinking the squares..)so, in the meantime, and given what i had and did not have handy, i decided to start from scratch. that is, make the 'slices' from scratch. yes, i have tools, luckily i have tools and with hands and tools, i can make things. it might take some time, but i can make things... and...here we go: helping handthen someone gave me a gift....speed up the process a bit, you say? and now, as i catch up to speed and can let my playing expand a bit further, just playing still... the circles are inso for now my little steps have taken me to add another style to the collection, and the circles are now rising, in 2 sizes and color finishes Circle Slice Earrings grouping in black and yellow brass the slice collectionand so now, to top it all off, i am happy to introduce (yes, right at the bottom) a new page just for the slices collection right off my website, that is just around the corner... check it out!
