it got picked. by someone special. someone who really connected with it.
it takes the time it takes, but they all find each other: ​the one who wears it, the one being worn...

months of uncertainties have been piling up, we do not know what is happening next.
bring my thoughts back to my work, the bench, what needs to be done, slices earrings, in progress.

and after a few days, got a bunch to shoot, tedious work of quite a few hours...

and then, they are ready to go!

along the way this march picked up some 'old' work sitting around on the bench, put these together, little sterling silver cubes.

they are tiny, super light despite their 'cubeness' and they definitely stand out!
some one of a kind mini work ready for a customer, who grabbed them on the go...

wishful thinking?

january is the month that always gets away with nothing.
among the picking up of things left hanging from the old year gone, the good resolutions to start afresh, the dwindling of time, there is that peek into all that can be, luring ideas into unknown territories with all the 'what-ifs'...

i have no idea what to do with these.
a roll of brass strip given to me ages ago by someone i don't remember, it has been tucked away and preciously preserved for whenever.
​cut out a piece, annealed it, cut it up again, rolled it through the rolling mill...a simple excercise in futility, but it felt so good!

and then these of course, more of your october colors, just with an angle...and still in tune!

simple, with less words... earrings for (f)all.

sometimes we are prepared, sometimes we are not... so it's time to pin something down this fall, time to not let it all blow away... time to do it in a bold way, time to do it in daring contemporary style, time to do it in vivid colors.

​so, advice for everyone to be ready for the gusts of fall, the scarf that blows over your shoulders, the pin on a lapel you have handy, to keep it all in place.

just playing with jewelry and combinations of color to be in tune with this month, 
had fun playing with putting colors together, a black+orange line-up came out of it and is the main theme for the rest of the month.

all i can see is black+orange and nothing else seems to stick to mind...

it all began by accident. and fun. and by having fun with accidents happening...
some while ago, quite a long while ago actually, and in full exploration mode i spent hours with a bandsaw and a bunch of copper, brass, silver pipes and tubes of all sizes and ...cut away!
​'slices' of various sizes began piling up on my bench, some immediately finding their composition and combinations

then last year i found a box tucked away in my studio and almost forgotten, and pulled out  six 2" x 2" thin square slices in brass, almost as out of thin air....

and these came out: the square slices!

still in playing mode, i quickly put together six pairs of big thin square brass slice earrings, with a simple sterling silver ear wire and put them out to the world, without much thinking (did i mention that i was just playing?)

and to my surprise, or maybe i was just caught off guard, these babies just flew off my earrings rack almost in no time and i found myself wondering... should i make some more?
people really liked them, why not?
but the experimental original 'slices' were gone and i had to start from scratch, slice them afresh from a pipe i could not find in my stash and with a band saw i no longer had...

so, in the meantime, and given what i had and did not have handy, i decided to start from scratch. that is, make the 'slices' from scratch. yes, i have tools, luckily i have tools and with hands and tools, i can make things. it might take some time, but i can make things...

then someone gave me a gift....speed up the process a bit, you say?

and now, as i catch up to speed and can let my playing expand a bit further, just playing still...

so for now my little steps have taken me to add another style to the collection, and the circles are now rising, in 2 sizes and color finishes

and so now, to top it all off, i am happy to introduce (yes, right at the bottom) a new page just for the slices collection right off my website, that is just around the corner... check it out!

it has been quite a busy ride this year in my studio, and time to design and put out new work has been challenged by restrictive factors.
nonetheless, i am itching to release some of the new pieces I have been working on and here below i am giving you a hint of the process for the new circle earrings.

these earrings are some of the fresh addition for the new slices collection i have launched earlier this year and sparked by the enormous success of the first big square slice earrings i have been churning out non-stop since january.

both the circles and the square are currently available in 2 different sizes and colors, a black brass and a yellow brass finish..

​they are simply super light and super fun to wear!

and so this one is GONE.
the last of the shard rings from a series of long ago...

it's fun to see them leave. happy together, the person, the object, the perfect match.
the little story behind ​these rings was indeed an inspiration, but really i just love the shape. shape, function, wear it as a ring, wear it as a pendant...wear it.
